Footprint Environmen Festival at the Botanic Gardens
Australian National Botanic Gardens are holding and enviro expo the "Footprint Environment Festival" on Saturday 14 March. The day will involve workshops, discussions, demonstrations, entertainment and activities for all ages, and they're interested in inviting some local artists, designers etc who's work involves any element of sustainability, who would like to show and sell their produce.
If anyone is interested in joining in on the day there will be no charge, and they will enjoy making contact with around 500 local people.

Sustainable Art Market this Weekend!
Belconnen Arts Centre presents
Valentine’s Eve Art Markets
Celebrating Environmentally-Friendly Design & Craft
On Saturday 13 February come and see a marvellous collection of
handmade art and design by local artists and crafts people using
environmentally-friendly materials and processes. Stallholders will be
showing paintings, prints and cards celebrating the joys of love and lovers
plus a range of delectable gifts lovingly handmade to delight your own very
special Valentine.
Project Remake will be running 1- and 2- hour workshops throughout the
afternoon. So bring 2-5 special items from your wardrobe to remodel
into something new and fabulous. Workshop fees are $10 and $20.
When: 12:00 – 5:00pm Saturday 13 February

2010 Arts Education Conference
Arts Up Front: Leading Arts Learning
The ACT Department of Education and Training in partnership with the ANU School of Music and Arts consultative committee would like to invite all Arts based educators and artists to attend the inaugural Arts Education Conference to be held in conjunction with the ANU School of Music in February 2010.

Cost: $75 or $50 for Pre Service

Aims:
• Provide ACT Arts educators with a clear understanding of the directions the national curriculum in the Arts is taking.
• Galvanise engagement of ACT Arts educators to provide direction for Arts education in the ACT and issues regarding the national curriculum
• Provide quality professional learning workshops for educators of students of all ages giving practical experiences, activities and pedagogical techniques that teachers can utilise in the classroom
• Establish strong links between schools and community Arts organisations to further develop existing programs and stimulate innovative practice in schools and with young artists
• To enable all participants the opportunity to participate in a round table discussion to provide input into the national curriculum for the Arts
The Day will include performances by
• Musica Viva
• Canberra Youth Music
• QL2
• KultureBreak
• Jigsaw Theatre Company
There will be 22 workshops on the day by organisations including:
• ANU School of Music
• Arts ACT
• Australian Catholic University
• Australian National Gallery
• Bell Shakespeare Company
• Jigsaw Theatre Company
• National Portrait Gallery
• QL2
• University of Canberra
There will be guest speakers at the forefront of campaigning for an Arts national curriculum, first-rate education workshops across the Arts and Market stalls from a large number of ACT key Arts organisations.
Join Arts Educators from the ACT Region in learning the latest about resources, techniques and pedagogy. There will be a number of distinct strands for each of the arts subjects, curriculum, performance, cross curricular approaches to teaching the Arts, primary Arts education and classroom pedagogy. All-inclusive cost for teachers’ registration: $75. This includes access to all seminars, catering, guest speakers and other benefits yet to be unveiled!
No arts teacher (or prospective arts teacher) can afford to miss this collection of opportunities all in the one location for the first time and remember it can count as your additional PL day.

Project Remake workshops are for anyone wanting to make the most out of their wardrobe by deconstructing and stitching with love and thought to create new items with interesting twists.
Join us, the Project Remake team – Paula, Michelle and Lee on Monday February 8th 7-9pm for our first workshop of the year to see the potential in your loved, but unused/underused, clothes.
OR drop in to see what we are doing and see some of our new creations.
