On Holiday

Busy putting up all the information for the next couple of weeks as I am off on holidays to learn KaHuna massage in the Noosa Hinterland and visit friends. So when I come back wonderfully relaxed I will be working on a whole new web design for my sites - www.canberrahandmade.com and www.puddleduckdesigns.com. So look out for the new look!

Copyright Agency Limited (CAL) holding Info Sessions

Copyright Agency Limited (CAL) has announced a new schedule of free seminars on the artists’ resale royalty scheme, to be held in all capital cities, Cairns and Alice Springs during July, August and September.

The seminars will be in Canberra on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 July at the Canberra Museum and Art Gallery, Civic Square (on London Circuit). The seminar on the 28th is from 5.30 - 7.00 pm and is for artists. On the 29th it will be held from 10.00 - 11.30am for art market professionals.

Artists and ‘art market professionals’ (art dealers, galleries, auction houses, Indigenous art centres and others involved in the business of buying and selling art) who attend these seminars will be able to find out what the scheme means for them and what they need to do to participate.

Earlier this year CAL successfully tendered to administer the artists’ resale royalty scheme, which commenced on 9 June. Under the scheme artists are now entitled to a 5% royalty on certain resales of their artworks valued at $1,000 or more.

Since CAL’s appointment, the company has coordinated a wide range of activities to raise awareness about the resale royalty scheme among artists and art market professionals. The dates, times and locations for the current sessions are as follows – anyone interested in attending should register their interest with CAL via email (events@copyright.com.au) or by phoning 1800 066 844.

Belconnen Arts Centres First Birthday

In September this year the Belconnen Arts Centre will celebrate its first year anniversary. It has been a year of exciting programs, exhibitions and events, with the Arts Centre strengthening its place in the community as a vibrant centre for the arts.

Everyone loves a celebration, and we would like to ask you to help us celebrate this milestone.
We would like to ask you to contribute to Belco Bizarre an exhibition which will celebrate the first anniversary of the Belconnen Arts Centre on Lake Ginninderra. We look forward to a vibrant, eclectic, stimulating exhibition of works which will celebrate the special, unusual, funny, crazy or the simply different of life, Belconnen and our community, which will run from 3-26 September.

We aim to offer an exhibition of works that are a “cut above” the ordinary, and which reflect thoughtful consideration of the exhibition’s brief. We encourage new and emerging artists, students, recreational artists, as well as professional practitioners, with the emphasis on the creation of visually stimulating and engaging works.

You have all contributed, in a myriad of ways, to making the Arts Centre a vibrant  and stimulating creative resource for our community.

We look forward to your entry—in whatever form it takes!—to this Exhibition of Celebration.
Please follow this link to download the easy to complete form to enter your work/s for the exhibition. G:\Program\2010 Program\2010 Winter Program\Exhibitions\Belco Bizarre\Belco Bizarre EOI.doc

In modern society we forget about the things that make us happy every day.  It is important to remember our daily joy in our lives and for us to celebrate them through art.

This is an optimistic exhibition that features the daily joy that celebrates the lives of everyday people going about everyday business.  For example; getting up in the morning, going about our daily rituals, spending time with family and friends, creating works of art that give us pleasure, new beginnings, making music, singing in the shower, cooking, liaisons with people in our communities and for some people even cleaning the bathroom.
All Mediums are welcome including video, sound, jewellery, comic, installation, painting, ceramics, sculpture, furniture, mixed media and photography.

Joy knows no boundaries, therefore this exhibition is open to all ages and all artists.

Application forms are available from the Artist Shed Shop, Citylink Plaza, Queanbeyan.
