Art and Imagery in Stitched Textiles Workshop

This workshop run by Sandra Meech (see http://www.sandrameech.com/NewGallery.html) will make the connection between the images we take for inspiration, the drawing and painting we do for fun and their important connection to fabric and stitch.  Exploring different art  and surface materials as well as mixed media collage and composition the workshop will work through a series of drawing, painting exercises on a personal theme. Transfer dyes on cloth are combined with drawings and imagery into final stitched pieces.  This is a workshop for all who want to express themselves in creative new stitched textile directions.

Imagery in stitched textiles
With personal themes from photographs (landscape to architecture, fashion to world textiles – anything goes), we will create collage compositions, paintings and drawings. Heat transfer methods of imagery onto cloth with mixed media collage will prepare surfaces for stitch.  Several  textile pieces will be finished and include wireform for dimension and added texture with plastics and wool. A review of simple ways with Photoshop Elements will also be included .
