Designers and avid recyclers Hanny Dewar and daughter Lee have once again joined forces under the project name Re-Loved Creations to present Re-Loved: Re-Vamped at Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre on Thursday 30 September at 6pm.
This event will be the third of its kind for the Re-Loved Creations team, and celebrates the continuing relationship and support from Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre, who will host the event for a second year.
Re-Loved: Re-Vamped will showcase 2010 collections from Chris Murray, Lisa Barrett (Tango & James), Hanny Dewar (Hanny-d Creations), Tamara Russell and Zoe Turketo (Turketo).
All designers involved were given a brief to deconstruct, re work or re-imagine existing clothing and materials into new creations to promote a sustainable fashion culture. The outcome is a series of unique and wearable one-off garments showcased in a one off event with a live fashion parade, music, dialogue and networking.
This event is supported by Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre. Entry to Re-Loved: Re-Vamped is free.
Chris Murray is a 23 year old carpenter by trade who has a passion for creating clothes. His designing started while still in school studying Year 11. He began with alterations to clothes that had been given to him or things he had discovered at various op-shops, later moving onto more complex designs. Anything from turning suit pants into shorts to designs for shirts. Chris’ inspiration mainly comes from his desire to wear something that no-one else has. “To have an idea in my head and create and wear it. It’s a good feeling to be able to make this happen.”
