Spring Swap at the Environment Centre


Date: Saturday 10th September, 2011
Time: 12pm - 3pm
Venue: Environment Centre, Lennox & Lawson Cr (by the National Museum)

Spring is the time of year when layers of clothing required start to dwindle, biking becomes a rekindled passion and vegetable gardens are revived...

The Spring Swap & Sale welcomes the change of season by providing a space to reconnect with all these warmer weather month activities forgotten through a giant SWAP!

Items for swapping only are clothes*, books, dvds and cds, while bike parts and seedlings may be swapped or bought.

*To participate in the Clothes Swap you will need to register your items by 1pm on the day as the Clothes Swap will commence at 1.30pm.

All other items may be swapped/bought between 12pm - 3pm.

Swapping Guidelines:
Book, CD & DVD SWAPPING GUIDELINES:

WHAT TO SWAP
1. Items may only be swapped like for like (i.e. book for book etc.)
2. A maximum of 10 items per category, per person may be swapped (i.e. 10 books, 10 CDs etc.)
3. Items for swapping must be in good working order/condition; something that you would be happy to swap for yourself
4. Items considered to be in too poor condition for swapping may be rejected from the swap

HOW THE SWAP WILL WORK
1. Swapping of Books, CDs and DVDs will take place between 12pm - 3pm
2. Items must be registered, quality checked and swapped for corresponding tokens
3. Participants will then have access to peruse through items available for swapping
4. Once you have found the items that you would like to swap your tokens for, you take them to the check-out desk to make the exchange
5. Enjoy your new items!

CLOTHES SWAPPING GUIDELINES:


WHO CAN SWAP

Guys, girls and children of all shapes, sizes and styles. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

WHAT TO SWAP
All well-kept wearable pieces and accessories that are ready for a new life are welcome. From designer wear to cool t-shirts to good quality basic garments from local high street stores. Keep in mind that quality is key to making the Clothes Swap a success for everyone.
  • You can swap up to 10 items of clothing, including accessories (hats, scarves, belts) and shoes in good condition
  • Items likely to be valued by others
  • Mens, womens and childrens clothing
  • Garments clean, folded or pressed
WHAT NOT TO SWAP
  • Faulty items i.e. holes, missing buttons, frayed, pilled, streched, shrunken, stained etc.
  • Items that are straying too far from perfect or are incomplete
  • Items which are smelly
  • We can’t exchange undergarments, swimwear, lycra, tracksuits or anything polar-fleece.
HOW THE SWAP WILL WORK
  1. Those participating in the Clothes Swap will need to register by 1pm. Registration involves having your items quality checked and exchanged for tokens which you will then use to swap for newfound items.
  2. Once you have registered you will have half an hour to browse around the rest of the site while clothing items are hung up and displayed.
  3. At 1.30pm the Clothes Swap will begin and participants will be allowed to enter.
  4. Once you have found the items that you would like to swap your tokens for, you take them to the check-out desk to make the exchange.
  5. Enjoy your new wardrobe!
