The workshop will work with silk fibre on the surface of the felt, making a silk and wool ‘scarf’ which uses silk sliver on a single layer of wool to make a very fine lustrous fabric. Working with silk caps and a very fine laying out process is developed for the wool layer to make a larger piece of felt which can be used for a wrap or made into a garment
Phillipa has been making felt for 25 years, currently teaches felting students pretty much full time for most of the year. She is passionate about quality felt in Australia. Her work has been exhibited in Australia and Europe and is in several private collections. Her main area of interest is fine felts.
